Crowd Density Monitoring that Works on the Cameras You Already Have

See where a Crowd is building, how fast it is moving, and which Exits are filling, Zone by Zone, before it becomes a Problem on the ground. RootBlockLabs counts People on your existing Cameras and alerts your Control Room when a Zone passes Limits your Safety Team sets. Analysis runs on-site.

  • Works with your existing Cameras, after a Site Survey
  • Counts People, not Identities. No Face Recognition is used
  • Keeps working if the Internet or Mobile Network fails

How Dense Is Your Crowd, and How Long to Clear It?

Enter your Crowd Size, Occupied Area, and Available Exit Width to estimate Crowd Density and Clearance Time. Adjust your Thresholds to match your Planning Criteria.

Crowd Details

Enter the three Values below to calculate your Results.

Live Calculation
3.0 people/m²

Get alerted when Density reaches this Level.

4.0 people/m²

Set the Density at which your Plan calls for Action.

Density Visualisation

2 m × 2 m Sample Area

Enter your Crowd Details to preview how People are distributed across a 2 m × 2 m Area.

Density Guide: under 2 People/m² is comfortable, 2–4 is busy, 4–5 is dense, and 5 or more is critical. These are indicative Planning Bands, not universal Safety Limits. Clearance Estimates assume 1.3 People per second per metre of Clear Exit Width. Real Flow depends on the Venue, Crowd, Obstructions, and applicable Safety Requirements.

What the System Watches

Your cameras already cover the gates, concourses and exits. The analysis turns that view into numbers and alerts for each zone.

It MeasuresWhat Your Control Room Gets
Density per ZoneA live map of how packed each area is, against limits you set
Flow Direction and SpeedWhich way people move, and where flow is slowing or stopping
Choke Points and QueuesGates, stairs and underpasses where people are backing up
Sudden InflowAn alert when a zone fills much faster than normal
Zone OccupancyA running count per gate, stand or concourse, with no manual clickers
Boundary LinesAn alert when people approach or cross a line you draw

From a Number to an Action

Alerts only help if someone knows what to do. We set three levels with your safety team, each tied to a response in your own plan.

1.

Normal Flow

Density is within limits. Everything is logged for the post-event review.

2.

Watch

Density is rising or flow is slowing in a zone. The control room dashboard shows it, and a steward can be sent to look.

3.

Act

A limit has been passed. The control room and the zone lead are alerted with the camera and zone, and your response plan starts. A person decides what to do.

03

Where Crowds Build, by Event Type

Choose a setting to see what we watch and where the pressure usually is.

Stadium Match

Where Pressure Builds: Gates before kickoff, concourses at the interval, exits and approach roads at full time.

What We Watch: Queues at gates, density on concourses, exit flow and the car park.

What Your Team Gets: Zone density, queue build-up and exit-flow alerts, with a log for the post-match debrief.

04

What It Can and Cannot Do

We tell you the limits before you buy.

What It Does

  • Estimates Density and Flow where cameras have a clear view
  • Alerts your team when a zone passes limits you set
  • Logs every event for Debriefs and Safety Reports
  • Runs on-site, on your existing cameras

What It Does Not Do

  • Predict a Crowd Crush or guarantee nothing goes wrong
  • Count accurately where cameras cannot see, or in a very dense crowd at a poor angle
  • Replace stewards, your Crowd Management Plan or your Safety Officer
  • Identify people. It counts them, nothing more.
06

Privacy and Data

Crowd density counts people, not identities, and does not use face recognition. Analysis runs on-site and video does not leave your location. Retention and access are set with you, and we review local rules on video use before installation.

Questions About Crowd Monitoring

It depends on camera height, angle and how dense the crowd is. Counts are estimates, and we measure the error on your own footage during a pilot against a margin you approve.
