Multi-Accelerator Video Analytics Engineering

Multi-Accelerator Video Analytics Engineering

The Challenge

Computer vision platforms may need to support different accelerator platforms depending on deployment requirements, hardware availability, performance targets, or customer environments.

A video analytics application designed around a single accelerator can become difficult to extend when additional hardware platforms are introduced. Differences in inference runtimes, SDKs, device interfaces, and processing pipelines can create additional engineering complexity.

The challenge was to support computer vision workloads across NVIDIA and Blaize accelerator environments while maintaining a practical and maintainable application architecture.

Engineering Approach

Rootblock Labs worked on the engineering requirements involved in supporting multiple accelerator platforms within a video analytics architecture.

The work focused on:

  • Supporting NVIDIA and Blaize accelerator environments.
  • Integrating accelerator-specific inference components.
  • Working with video analytics SDK components.
  • Designing separation between common application services and hardware-dependent components.
  • Addressing multi-stream video processing requirements.
  • Considering deployment, integration, testing, and telemetry requirements.

Architecture Focus

A key engineering consideration was separating common application functionality from hardware-specific inference components where the underlying SDKs and platform capabilities allowed it.

This approach can make future hardware integration more manageable by reducing unnecessary dependencies between the application layer and individual accelerator implementations.

Technical Scope

The engineering scope included:

Multi-accelerator support
Supporting computer vision inference workflows across NVIDIA and Blaize platforms.
Video pipeline integration
Connecting inference components with video analytics processing workflows.
Hardware abstraction
Separating common services from accelerator-specific implementation details where practical.
Multi-stream processing
Addressing the architecture requirements associated with processing multiple video streams.
Deployment engineering
Considering integration, testing, monitoring, telemetry, and operational requirements for target environments.

Project Status

This was a confidential and ongoing engineering engagement. Customer identity and project-specific performance results are not disclosed.

Therefore, this case study does not claim specific FPS improvements, latency reductions, cost savings, or deployment-scale results.

Engineering Value

The work demonstrates Rootblock Labs’ ability to operate at the intersection of:
